so….i’m finally blogging. i created “love without expectation” about two months ago and have been waiting for the divine inspiration for the first blog.
this morning…after a 12 hour siesta, filled with complicated sometimes upsetting sometimes exhilirating dreams…i sit on the patio having a bowl of “autumn wheat” — mmm…one of my favorites. there is an incredible stillness or maybe its peacefulness interspersed with the most incredible leave rustling breezes. i listen to the wind chimes, which i absolutely love. i have decided they are God’s music – a manmade instrument of course – yet God determines their play. one of my favorite songs is a single note, like a breath from a friend, just a comfort to let you know they are there beside you.
i looked to my left and there on the top of the back of an intricate patio chair was a little green lizard. he was my friend this morning. i noticed him because he was courting me…pushing up on his front legs in his testosteronic display with his eye catching red, um, piece of skin under his mouth. then he caught sight of zeke, my 3 year old weimaraner and all of his reproductive energy instantly turned to survival. he watched zeke with 180 degree turns of his head, seemingly endless range of motion with his eyes and his body which was just the most illuminating chartreuse began to perfectly mimic the mottled brown of the chair beginning with his tail and head. as i quickly went inside to get my camera…he left. sad. although it didn’t really matter since my battery was dead – was it worth a photograph to lose him?
possibly. since i could not capture him on film, i quickly returned back inside to grab my trusty mac…and thus he became the subject of my first blog. maybe he was a selectively superior indivdiual because zeke never noticed him. i have no expectation that he will return.
You are amazing!
